Research overview
The preparation contains two compounds. BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide of sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV, described by FDA as reported to be a partial sequence of a body protection compound isolated from human gastric juice 12. Its identity records give CAS 137525-51-0, UNII 8ED8NXK95P and PubChem CID 9941957, with molecular formula C62H98N16O22 and a molecular weight of 1419.5 g/mol 34. No record of BPC-157 as an authorised active substance was found in the MHRA products substance index on 21 September 2026 5. TB-500 is a trade name applied to two different molecules: a synthetic N-acetylated heptapeptide corresponding to residues 17 to 23 of thymosin beta-4, registered under UNII QHK6Z47GTG with CAS 885340-08-9 and a molecular weight of 889.0 g/mol, and full-length thymosin beta-4 itself, a 43-residue peptide given the international non-proprietary name timbetasin 678. Laboratories that analysed material sold under the TB-500 name identified the acetylated heptapeptide as the key ingredient 910. Both compounds appear on the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List in force, BPC-157 in section S0 and thymosin beta-4 with its derivatives in section S2.3 11. The linked monographs set out identifiers, the published literature and dated status for each compound separately.

- United Kingdom
- No UK marketing authorisation: the MHRA products index returns no document for 'thymosin' or 'timbetasin' (searched 2026-09-22), and no UK orphan designation or MHRA notice specific to thymosin β4 or TB-500 was found.Checked 2026-09-22 · Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency

Questions
- Which identity records do the two components correspond to?
- BPC-157 is recorded as CAS 137525-51-0, UNII 8ED8NXK95P, PubChem CID 9941957, formula C62H98N16O22, 1419.5 g/mol; a separate substance record exists for the acetate salt [gsrs-bpc157-2026][pubchem-cid-9941957][gsrs-bpc157-acetate-2026]. For TB-500 the molecule is not yet confirmed: the registered substance of that name is the acetylated 17 to 23 heptapeptide, UNII QHK6Z47GTG, while full-length thymosin beta-4 is a separate substance [gsrs-qhk6z47gtg][fda-pcac-tb500-briefing-2026].
- How does one certificate of analysis cover two compounds?
- Each compound carries its own lines on the same certificate: a chromatographic purity figure with the high-performance liquid chromatography method used, and a mass-spectrometric identity line giving the method, the expected and observed masses and whether identity was confirmed, together with assayed mass and net peptide content. Two components therefore produce two result rows on one certificate, and no combined purity figure is recorded.
- Is a compendial specification available for either component?
- No. Neither compound has a United States Pharmacopeia, National Formulary or European Pharmacopoeia monograph, so no compendial specification or official reference standard can be quoted and each certificate line rests on the stated method [fda-pcac-briefing-2026][fda-pcac-tb500-briefing-2026].
- What storage figures are published for the two compounds?
- For BPC-157, FDA's evaluation reproduces supplier data describing lyophilised material as stable at room temperature for about three weeks, with storage desiccated below -18 °C [fda-pcac-briefing-2026]. For the TB-500 heptapeptide, the same kind of supplier data give the powder at -80 °C for two years or -20 °C for one year, sealed, dry, dark and under nitrogen [fda-pcac-tb500-briefing-2026]. Neither figure is a pharmacopoeial determination.
- Why are the solubility and solution-stability fields empty?
- Because no source on this site's allow-list characterises the two-component mixture. Figures published for each compound on its own are set out in the linked monographs, where they are attributed to the evaluation that reproduced them. Nothing is entered here that could not be traced to a retrieved source for this material.
- What does the pack contain?
- Lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial holding 30 mg of peptide in total across the two components, held at 2 to 8 °C and protected from light until dispatch. The mass of each component has not been confirmed, so the specification panel states total quantity only. Vials are sealed at fill and are not opened again before shipping.
